The Simple Present Tense is often used with adverbs or adverb phrases such as: often, usually, sometimes, never, always, occasionally, on Mondays, once a week, twice a year, every week, etc
I usually get up at 7 o’clock
I go to the dentist once a year
Position of the adverbs
- After the forms of “to be”: I’m never late for school.
- Before the main verb: I never arrive late for school.
- Between the auxiliary verb and the main verb:
I don’t usually go to the theatre.
Position of Adverbial phrases of frequency
All of them usually go at the end and sometimes at the beginning of the sentence but not in the middle:
I go to the gym twice a week.
Twice a week, I go to the gym with my friends.
