Affirmative se forma con el SUJETO+ (am/is/are) + infinitivo+-ing.
Examples:
I am working
You are working
He/she/it is working
We are working
You are working
They are working
Negative se forma con el SUJETO+ (am/is/are) +not+ infinitivo+-ing.
Examples:
I am not working
You are not working
He/she/it is not working
We are not working
You are not working
They are not working
Interrogative se forma con: (am/is/are) +SUJETO+infinitivo+-ing?
Examples:
Am I working?
Are you working?
Is he/she/it working?
Are we working?
Are you working?
Are they working?
Respuestas cortas (Short answers)
Are you listening to the radio? Yes, I am / No, I'm not.
Is he watching T.V? Yes, he is / No, he isn't.
Are they sleeping? Yes, they are / No, they aren't
NOTAS SOBRE EL SPELLING:
A. Cuando un verbo acaba en –e, la-e cae antes de añadir “-ing”: take- taking
Esto no ocurre cuando acaba “-ee”: see-seeing
Verbos de dos o más sílabas cuya última sílaba contiene solo una vocal y acaba en una consonante duplican esta consonante final si el golpe de voz se da en la última sílaba:
begin-beginning PERO enter-entering (el golpe de voz no está en la última sílaba)
C. Cuando el verbo acaba en “-l” siempre se dobla la "l": travel-travelling
D. Cuando el verbo acaba en -ie, sustituimos la -ie por -y, y añadimos -ing: die-dying
¡CUIDADO! Hay algunos verbos que no se pueden usar en presente continuo: be, have got, like, love, hate, prefer, want, wish, understand, think, remember, see, hear, smell, etc
En ese caso sólo se podrán poner en presente simple:
I think she's beautiful.
I like children.
I don't understand Chinese.
